This book is delightful. There were a few characters that I wanted to hug, several that I wanted to kick, and at least one that just plain scared me. All of them were interesting, fleshed-out, and fun to read. The setting was vivid and complex, and the fight scenes were seriously badass.The story itself is too complicated to describe, so I won’t try, but it involves music and poison and very sharp rocks.

Extremely dark in places, horrifying in others and I totally loved it. Great characters
Complex characters, action-packed plot, and (for once!) strong leading females make this a one-of-a-kind fantasy novel! I would reccommend this to young women who are desperate for capable and complicated female characters.
This book is a glorious example of dark fantasy. Who needs heroes when you can have anti-heroes?! This character-driven story has madness, murder, and mayhem a-plenty. The lead protagonists are some of the most compellingly written female characters I have ever come across in the fantasy genre. If you are a fan of dark fantasy, this book will deliver and leave you whining for more!
